What's in a name?

Actually there's a lot in a name. It tells people who you are and what you're about. This holds true especially for anything on the internet. Create a name too obscure or spelled wrong and nobody will find you. Mislead people with your name and you'll attract the wrong type of web browsers. A name is important.

Some of you already know me by my real name. I don't want to do that any time soon. I do, however, want to have another name that can symbolize what I'm about without sounding too corny. Currently I'm going by Romulus, but that needs to change. Greek and Roman god names have been primarily dominated by liberal leaning bloggers. Using a name like billy bob or jed clampet or something equally "redneck" would classify me as conservative. I need a fair name for someone who does his best to take both sides of an issue and come to a viable conclusion....and I haven't a clue what that name would be.

So I'm asking you, my friends, to come up with a good pseudoname for me. There are no rules, I just need a name. Thank you for your support.

How about "Jeremiah"? Remember ... He preached for 40 years and no one listened. But he was still right. Ha!

Plus, it sounds like your real name. Plus ... "Jeremiah was a Bolfrog", too.

Okay, enough for now. Thanks for checking in. I'm not much for Romulus, to be honest. But hey ...

Yeah...no.

I thought of that but realized I didn't want my name anywhere near the blog. I do like the "He preached for 40 years and no one listened." angle though.

Well I assume if Jeremiah is out, no way are you going to go for Jamie-Bug! Have you considered Gus, Gus?

Hrm... Gus is a possibility.

This is a toughie. "Captain Pants" is mine, and you can't have it. So what does that leave? Hmmm...

How about "Voorhees"? It isn't really a name of a guy that takes both sides of an issue and comes to a viable conclusion... it's more the name of a guy who takes both sides of an issue, shreds them into gory little bits, and kinda spreads them around for people to accidentally step in and track all over the carpet. And chicks may not really dig him, but he never gets arrested or has a bad hair day.

Or maybe "Carver"? Besides sharing a name with the inventor of the Carvomatic X, it kind of suggests that there was originally just one side to the issue, but then you came along. So we can blame all the partisanship on you.

Gus, Gus, Gus, Gus, Gus.
We Have To Roll It.

You are one of about a half a dozen guys who are Gus. As you may know but obviously others don't, Gus is not a name, It is what you are. Being Gus is contemplative. Being Gus is inquisative. Being Gus is obtuse.

I would lean more toward Harley, or better still Havey (a poccaish variant).

A well defined character is known by his name, while a character known only by name is undefined.

Signed Gus

Geeze, even gets a plug in for his 1 post blog.

I vote for your great 34th grandpappy, Charlemagne. Specifically, Kid Charlemagne - used by Malcom in the Middle's father, Hal, as his pirate radio station call name, and of course a Steely Dan song. I'm not a Steely Dan fan, but the name sounds good.

Kid Charlemagne

With all these names flying around I'm not sure which one I'm going to settle on. I may just change it at random to suit the mood or give everyone an inside joke.

Overall I'm looking at Gus. It goes way back. And it's unobtrusive. No hidden meanings. No statements of grandeur. I think Gus could do it.
